Biography
Songwriting and performing are as natural to Rachel and Alisha MacGregor as living and breathing.
Music has always been part of their lives from very young ages. Their sound is their own, but has been compared “favorably to '70's California Fleetwood Mac”. In addition they have been compared to other pop groups such as The Cranberries and The Corrs with the songwriting capabilities of Chantal Kreviazuk.
Although young, they already have had tremendous success. They completed their first EP "Rain" when they were 12 and 13 and finished their first full length CD, “Dark Beauty” in November 2005.
As International Songwriting Competition Winners, both Rachel and Alisha have had the opportunity to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston on full scholarships to their summer programs. While at Berklee this past summer, Alisha entered one of her new songs called ‘Wide Awake’ in a songwriting competition. She was selected as a winner and asked to perform her song to a packed house at the Berklee Performance Center on Massachutes Avenue and won another full scholarship for the following summer. In addition to the Berklee Performance Center, The MacGregors have performed at the Bell Convention Center – Montreal; the Pepsi Coliseum - Quebec City; the Telus Convention Center – Calgary; CMW – Toronto; New Music West – Vancouver, NAMM 2007 in LA, USA to name a few. They recently finished an all expense paid tour through Music BC called "Get Outta town Tour".
The tour was headlined by Tal Bachman and covered six cities across the province of BC. In January 2007, they were invited to showcase at NAMM 2007 in LA, USA which is one of the world’s largest music industry event with over 20,000 in attendance.
Currently their CD Dark Beauty is being distributed across Canada by CMC Distribution and is also available from their website and CDBaby.com. Rachel and Alisha are working on material for a new CD for release 2008/2009.
